Can you believe that 2018 is officially in the past? I mean really it seems like this year just started yesterday. As I sit back and think over the year, I realize that 2018 was pretty good to me. I considered it my growth year.
Year in Review
Let’s get a little personal. 2018 started out so rough for me. I was so miserable with my life. I was recovering from a horrible “situation-ship.” So for the longest I was on this whole “I hate men” vibe. I still wasn’t enrolled in a master’s program. My spiritual life was pretty non-existent. Realized I had some pretty intense Daddy issues. Needless to say, life was pretty all over the place and I hated it. As the year went on I got over the boy, I became serious about school and actually started looking into programs. I reconciled my relationship with my father. Convinced myself to be strong and started my blog. Battled with some demons, and although I’m not quite where I want to be in life I can truly say I am intensely, and unapologetically happy.
New Year New Opportunities
Let’s talk 2019! Are we still doing New Year resolutions? I mean seriously, I do those things EVERY year and come August I look at that same list and be like “Whelp! The year is over; I’ll try this again next year.” I know pretty horrible attitude to have I’m working on it.
2019 I want to have a very intentional year. Meaning everything I do will be with purpose. Life is short and I don’t want to waste it doing the same old thing over and over and getting no results. Or getting wrapped up in what others say I should be doing.
What is Intentional Living?
Spoke with a friend, and I asked him how do you define intentional living? His definition was pretty amazing, he said, “Being intentional requires that you make a conscious decision to set out on a particular path requiring a particular set of activities in an attempt to meet a particular goal or set of goals.”
I’ve been caught up in TED Talks and different YouTube videos which I’ll list at the end of this post. They all talk about living with intent. Intentional living is such a broad subject, being that anyone can apply it to any aspect of their lives. Be it spiritual, with dating, school, etc.
Intentional living can be used for literally anything. It’s like a state of mind. But with Intentional living, you have to ask yourself certain questions.
- What do you ultimately want?
- Who do you want it for?
- Are you being realistic?
- What motivates you?
These key questions are a start. At least, for me, they were.
Moving Forward with Intention
As I move into a new chapter in my life. As always, thank you so much for reading my blog as it is one of the things I will be intentional with this year! I hope your year is filled with Love, Peace, and Happiness.
